Terms of Service

Effective 22 July 2026 · Dubplate, published by Buene AS, Norway

These terms are the agreement between you and Buene AS for using the Dubplate app. By installing or using the app you accept them. They are written to be read, not skimmed past; the app is simple and so are its terms.

The short version: Dubplate is a player for music you already have access to in Google Drive. Your music stays yours and stays in your Drive. The app is read-only, has no backend, and we never touch your data. Use it with music you have the right to listen to.

What Dubplate is

Dubplate is a music player app for iPhone and Android. It connects to your own Google account and plays audio files from folders in your Google Drive, including folders others have shared with you. It streams and, when you choose, downloads audio to your device for offline playback. It provides no content of its own: every file it plays comes from your Drive, under your access rights.

The app runs entirely on your device. There is no Dubplate backend, no Dubplate account, and no server of ours in the path between your device and Google. How the app handles data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own private, non-commercial listening. If you got the app from the App Store or Google Play, the store's own terms also apply to the download itself.

Your Google account

Connecting Google Drive is authorized by you on Google's own consent screens, and works under Google's Terms of Service. The app requests read-only access and cannot modify, upload, or delete anything in your Drive. You can revoke the app's access at any time from the app's settings or at myaccount.google.com/permissions; the app then stops working until you reconnect, which is the expected behavior and not a defect.

Your content and your responsibility

The audio files, artwork, file names, and folders the app reads are yours or shared with you; nothing in these terms gives us any rights to them. In the other direction, you are responsible for what you play:

Dubplate is a player, not a source of content, and we have no ability to see what you play. Responsibility for the content in your Drive rests with you and with whoever shared it with you.

Free tier and purchase

The app is free to use with one album in the library, with all features included. A one-time purchase unlocks an unlimited library. The purchase is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play under their payment terms; refunds follow the store's refund policy. The unlock is tied to your store account and can be restored on your devices through the store's normal mechanisms.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the app. In particular, do not:

Intellectual property

The app, its design, and the Dubplate name belong to Buene AS. These terms give you the right to use the app, not ownership of it. Google Drive is a trademark of Google LLC; Dubplate is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

No warranty

The app is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and it depends on services we do not control: your device, your network, and Google Drive. Changes to Google's APIs or policies can affect or break functionality, and offline downloads are a convenience cache, not a backup. Keep the originals of anything you care about in your own storage.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Buene AS is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app, and our total liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, and nothing in them reduces the statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Termination

You can stop using the app at any time; disconnecting and uninstalling removes everything it stored on your device. We may stop offering or updating the app, and we may terminate this license if you materially breach these terms. The sections on your content, warranty, and liability survive termination.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date. A material change will also be noted in the app or in its store listing. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Disputes are subject to the ordinary Norwegian courts, unless mandatory consumer law in your country of residence gives you the right to a different venue.
